27 years.
What is your primary product or service?
Captioning for live TV, events, webcasts, and post-production captioning for programs, museums, schools, etc. We also do audio description for vision-impaired people.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Closed captioning is a natural outgrowth of our court reporting business. We use the same court reporting stenography machine and skills to do live captioning. The rest grew from that core business.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Accuracy and customer service. We are not the cheapest or the biggest, but we give our customers accurate captions and attentive customer service.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Our headquarters is in downtown Portland. We have employees across the country in all time zones.

Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Carol Studenmund and Robin Nodland own the company. Carol runs the captioning business, and Robin runs the court reporting business, LNS Court Reporting.
What are your hours of operation?
We have captioners on the air 21 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
