How long have you been in business?
I've had a private practice for four years, since 2009.
What is your primary product or service?
The primary service I offer is individual psychotherapy for people dealing with mood disorders, trauma, and/or people who would like to pursue personal or spiritual growth.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I first decided I would like to work with people as a psychotherapist when I was working as a meditation instructor at a month-long meditation retreat. I enjoyed have individual interviews with students where my job was to reflect back and appreciate the wisdom that was arising in their experience. I realized that being a psychotherapist could also be a matter of supporting people in seeing the their own intelligence, sanity, and wisdom.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I encourage my clients to respect themselves as the first expert on their own experience. I am trained in diagnosis and treatments for specific mental illnesses, but balance that by emphasizing respect for each client's unique path, and their right to make their own choices.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
My office is located in NW Portland. I am considering opening another office in the metro Portland area but have not decided to do this yet.
Provide detailed directions to your location
My office is 811 NW 20th Ave, on the corner of NW 20th Avenue and Johnson. If you are coming from SW, taking 405/30 and getting off at Vaughn Ave is a good way to come. If you are coming from Beaverton, you could take 26E to 405/30 or take Burnside Ave and turn left into NW.
What type of payments do you accept?
I accept cash or checks. I'm unable to accept credit cards.
Which areas do you service?
Most neighborhoods in Portland are within a twenty minute drive from my office. My office is also very close to the Streetcar and Busses on NW 21st and 23rd Ave.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
I own my company and manage it.
What are your hours of operation?
Tuesday 9-6 Thursday 9-6 Saturday 9-6
